Appraisal by a master valuer ( at time of this listing I am using Steven Knight GG, R.M.V., CJA-CAP) for a retail replacement value of $2,250 Canadian .A copy of the appraisal unsigned and unsealed included at no charge. If you want a signed ,sealed copy for insurance purposes, one can be sent to you for an additional $25. Master valuers are considered THE experts on coloured gems, and their appraisals are accepted by insurance companies as genuine retail replacement value.

Topaz is generally stable to light, but prolonged exposure to heat or sunlight might cause fading in yellow-to-brown, reddish brown, or dark brown topaz. Also, please note: a slightly darker background shows off the stone best when photographing, but does tend to make the stone look darker than it is. Once set, the dark background also will do this. All our gemstones are true gems, earth mined, not man made, hand cut, not machine cut. EXPECT FLAWS! We provide unaltered pictures of the gem for you at very high magnification. Minor inclusions in any gem are not, as some think, a bad thing. They help a gemologist determine the authenticity of a gem. Topaz is the gem stone for those born in November. It has been used as a gemstone for thousands of years. It is considered the symbol of friendship. Topaz in its natural state is a golden brown to yellow. Naturally occurring blue topaz is quite rare. , and almost all blue topaz on the market has been treated to produce that colour, as is some brown. An old English superstition says that topaz cures lunacy. (Never worked for me! :-) Topaz is the hardest of any silicate mineral, at 8 on the moh's scale.
