Appraised for $2,900 retail replacement by one of Canada's top appraisers before setting. Retail replacement is for bricks and mortar stores..... my prices are always much lower, and are determined by what I had to pay. Now retired, I am doing this to raise funds for charities I believe in.
Set by students, expect minor flaws ( prongs too long, stone not exactly set square, little rough around edges etc. ) Most people do not mind....but if you do, the price is right and you can have a qualified jeweler rectify.

The value of my listings is in the gemstone. Please take the time to read our listing: "Silver or Gold, what should I buy?" available on home page of my store. Appraisal was made before the stone was placed in a topaz accented silver setting, custom made for the stone.
Many of our stones 'deserve' gold settings, but I prefer to set in silver. Most people cannot tell the difference between white gold and a silver setting coated in rhodium to prevent tarnishing ( rhodium is more expensive than gold)
You can always have set in gold in the future if you wish...most people find our prices excellent for the gems alone, before setting accounted for
Better gems and jewelry items are kept in bank vault for security purposes and retrieving an item can cause a slight shipping delay.
This opal was appraised BEFORE SETTING by an independent master valuer for $2,940Canadian ( $2,210 US funds at time of listing ) retail replacement value. (Steven Knight, GG,R.M.V.,CJA-CAP. ) .Feel free to download his appraisal at no charge. If you want a signed ,sealed copy for insurance purposes, made out in your name, Mr. Knight keeps a record of all appraisals he does, and if you provide appraisal number, he can send you one for $20. Master valuers are THE experts on coloured stones, and signed sealed appraisals from them are accepted by insurance companies as verified retail replacement value. Opal is an alternate birthstone for those born in April and October. One of my favourite gems.
