95% of all rubies are heated to improve the clarity and it is totally accepted in the trade. Unheated are more expensive.

My selling price is determined by what I had to pay. I used to buy gems in very large quantities, using the ones in sizes I could use, putting aside the others. I am selling all my stock now. Many were purchased years ago. THIS IS A GENUINE EARTH MINED RUBY. For an additional $5, I will provide, if requested , a signed and sealed appraisal by me for retail replacement of $410. A gemologist for decades, specializing in coloured stones, I am now retired. If you prefer, I can provide a written appraisal signed and sealed by an independent master valuer ( at time of this listing I am using Steven Knight GG, R.M.V., CJA-CAP) for approx. $40. Better gems and jewelry items are kept in bank vault for security purposes and retrieving an item can cause a slight shipping delay. I usually only visit the bank Monday mornings, and then ship UPS. If you buy an item on a Monday afternoon, your purchase may not go out until the following week. Even smaller pictures, while more accurately showing how the gem looks to the naked eye, still show the gem MUCH larger than it is of course.... if you are not sure how big this is , make certain you check on a measure marked in millimeters... the standard for measuring gems.)

Each earth mined gem is a unique work of art, unlike the lab produced stones that can be produced in unlimited quantities.
Even worse than the lab produced stones are the glass enhanced ones....almost worthless.
Some people will never understand why people buy an original work of art when they can buy a poster for next to nothing.
Earth mined gems are for those that do. Invest in quality.

Hindus consider ruby very spiritual.... believe the red comes from an eternal flame that no human can extinguish.
