Appraised for $3,100 retail replacement by one of Canada's top appraisers, before setting. Retail replacement is for bricks and mortar jewelers with high overheads..... my prices are always much lower, and are determined by what I had to pay. Now retired, I am doing this to raise funds for charities I believe in.
Set by students, expect minor flaws ( prongs too long, stone not exactly set square, little rough around edges etc. ) Most people do not mind....but if you do, the price is right and you can have a qualified jeweler rectify.
Many of our stones 'deserve' gold settings, but I prefer to set in sterling. Most people cannot tell the difference between white gold and a sterling setting coated in rhodium to prevent tarnishing ( rhodium is more expensive than gold)
You can always have set in gold in the future if you wish...Our prices are excellent for the gems alone, before setting accounted for.
THIS IS A GENUINE EARTH MINED topaz. Appraisal by a master valuer ( at time of this listing I am using Steven Knight GG, R.M.V., CJA-CAP) for a retail replacement value of $3,100 Canadian Copy of the appraisal unsigned and unsealed included. If you want a signed ,sealed copy for insurance purposes, as i have partially paid for the appraisal I can provide for an additional $10. Master valuers are considered THE experts on coloured gems, and their appraisals are accepted by insurance companies as genuine retail replacement value.
Better gems and jewelry items are kept in bank vault for security purposes and retrieving an item can cause a slight shipping delay.
All our gemstones are true gems, earth mined, not man made, hand cut, not machine cut. EXPECT FLAWS! We provide unaltered pictures of the gem for you at very high magnification. Minor inclusions in any gem are not, as some think, a bad thing. They help a gemologist determine the authenticity of a gem. Man made gems are perfect.... but they are not real earth mined gems, and can be made in the millions, and do not increase in value. The difference between an original oil and a print. Supply and demand rules. For those that do not want to settle for imitations, this is a chance to buy real gems at good prices.
My selling prices are determined by my cost. Many items were purchased decades ago when prices were considerably less.
Even smaller pictures, while more accurately showing how the gem looks to the naked eye, still show the gem MUCH larger than it is of course.... if you are not sure how big this is , make certain you check on a measure marked in millimeters... the standard for measuring gems.)
NOTE: Supply and demand rules in true gem buying as in every other human investment.
Each earth mined gem is a unique work of art, unlike the lab produced stones that can be produced in unlimited quantities.
Some people will never understand why people buy an original work of art when they can buy a poster for next to nothing.
Earth mined gems are for those that do. Invest in quality.
Topaz is the gem stone for those born in November. It has been used as a gemstone for thousands of years. It is considered the symbol of friendship. Topaz in its natural state is a golden brown to yellow. Naturally occurring blue topaz is quite rare. , and almost all blue topaz on the market has been treated to produce that colour, as is some brown. An old English superstition says that topaz cures lunacy. (Never worked for me! :-) Topaz is the hardest of any silicate mineral, at 8 on the moh's scale.
